Religious Pilgrimage

Religious pilgrimage is for spiritual use, being a spiritual bridge between heaven and earth, between the triumphant Church (heaven) and the Fighting Church (earth).

The pilgrim wants to touch the place where the sanctifying presence of God was manifested (as touched by the icons in his church); He wants that through an ascetic effort (the journey is accompanied by fasting, toil, endeavor) to receive from God a new outpouring of grace that will strengthen his faith, increase his love, help his prayer; “Pilgrimage is a search in this world of what is not in this world”.

Human life is a journey. In this pilgrimage of earthly life, as it is given to each one, it is proper to obey the word of those who make us communion with God, a word that will give birth more and more to the places where they have to bless our Mother of God, the saints, the hermits, or the great spiritualist of Orthodoxy.

For an Orthodox Christian, pilgrimages are always the occasion of spiritual joy, strengthening in faith and spiritual enrichment. For an intense spiritual life lover, the holy places they visit, where they worship, from where they are charging with positive energy, produce profound implications, create the state that introduces it into a world less accessible to the occasional tourists. In fact, pilgrimage is a man’s response (seeking to reach a blessed place) to God’s call, a mutual search and a spontaneous encounter. The dynamic link between man’s response and the call of God is called faith.
